Hair.
I don't know if I've mentioned it here lately, but I'm trying to grow my hair out.  Long.  Looong. Like I want it halfway down my back long.
I've had my hair short for so long and I'm sick of it.   There's only so many hair styles I can do with it because it's so short.
The longest it ever was, was when I was in kindergarden and it was slightly past my shoulders and BEAUTIFUL (If I could find a picture I'll post it.)

I've been trying since probably February to get it to grow but it simply doesn't.  And when it does you can't tell because it's curly and bounces back up towards my head anyway! (And I love my curly hair, I just wish it were LONG.)

I've been reading crap on the internet, and stalking [info]longhair and I've learned some very valuable tips.

Basically, I think my hair doesn't grow because it's so dry and unhealthy, and I torture it.
Because I've been following many of the rules from [info]longhair and this wonderful site and I've already noticed my hair growing longer, and healthier.  The only slightly naughty thing I plan on continuing to do is dye it .(And even this I've considering stopping...but even my natural color, which used to be a strawberry blonde, isn't strawberry blonde anymore it's just BLONDE BLONDE BLONDE.  And I will hold on to being a redhead as long as I can, dye if I must, rofl.)

anyhow, that site (here) is probably the most useful source for curly haired people ever I think.  Now that girl has ethnic hair, but if you have severly curly hair, black or white, it doesn't matter it's practically the same.  I've been teased my whole life for having "black hair" because it so is. XD It's so thick, and dry, and frizztastic.
But seriously read her shit if you got curly hair. I thought it was a load of crock (her method of putting conditioner in your hair and NOT washing it out, but just leaving it to dry), but it works so well, and leaves your so soft and nice smelling, and not crusty and drying like with styling products.  I'm totally gonna pimp the Organix Hair products right now, they're wonderful.  Natural, and not sticky and slimy, and they smell so gooooood.

Rofl, I have about 8 cans of curl mousse that I had stockpiled to take back to Wal-Mart though now because I will not use them now.  Without a receipt.  They won't be pleased I know, but there return policy is you can still get store credit without a receipt. (MWAHAHAA)

I tend to cut my hair once it is long. In the photo, it is out of control. Since, I have learned how to use a flat iron from the few girl friends I have. I've always hung around guys and my dad raised me for the most part, so I am clueless when it comes to girly stuff. But I am trying.

I basically try to dry my hair with a hair dryer. I put leave in conditioner in it, I got this Rusk stuff from Amazon I tried because of a sale, and it worked. I also do that whole Matrix hair system and their step 4 sealer works in a flash when I want conditioning without a problem.

It is so hard to maintain long hair. It took me forever to grow it out and I am NOT cutting it! I get it trimmed but the dry air here and sun make it like straw if I don't deep condition it every day, a problem I didn't have when I was living in Michigan where it is humid.

I would say before looking at the website to not smoke or drink, eat well, drink a lot of water as the keys to good hair growth. Just taking care of yourself and wearing a hat outside in the summer too.

I have very thick hair, you can see it is taking over my head. It is somewhat curly and lately it has been curly on one side and straight on the other, which is very odd. So I just flatten the curly side. It can get very curly if I wash it before bed and sleep on it.

Good luck growing your hair out!!! :) Though it does look cute shorter too.

I've always cut mine too. Right when it starts to grow a little, I get the urge to cut it. But I'm trying to restrain myself for now, haha.
I try to stay away from flat irons. Every time I've used one it's been bad.
It's so hard to straighten my hair because it is so incredibly curly. I can sit for hours straightening it, and get it straight but within the next hour after that, like it's alive, it curls right back up by itself.
I got a new straightener this past year that I tried, I used it the first time, and it straightened my hair so good, and it looked good. (straight hair ftw? SO SHINY.)
But oh my god, did it DESTROY my curls.
For the longest time, I could not get my curls to come back, my hair just kind of stayed straight in odd places, and just looked really dry and fried, and not nice.
And straightening is just too much work for me. It's too much of a neat, organized, and tamed look, and I am anything but those 3 things. XD So I'll stick with my all over the place curls.

My hair's the same way with the dryness! I even do that whole olive-oil-for-an-hour thing occassionally to help with the dryness.

The only thing I have a problem with really is drinking a lot of water, which seems so easy but for whatever reason I'm horrible at it. I'm too much of a nervous jervus, running around and whatnot, I forget to drink, and that goes double for when I'm at work. It's bad. XD So not good for me, I'm trying to work on that.

LOL Taking over your head XD
I know the feeling.
I remember when I was little, I had this same kind of wild thick curly mess. The one day I came inside from playing and my mom found a dead bee tangled in my hair. The thing got in there and couldn't escape my hair nest, lmao.
Thanks! :D

Yeah, my hair starts to recurl the day after I straighten it. I suppose I could get it thinned, but I am a bit lazy in shelling out the bucks to do so.

I drink a lot of coffee and things that like and very little water. I can't drink too much water at a time. People tell me water is good for hair and skin. Eating fish oil or olive oil in food helps hair too. I guess.
So eat it AND put it on your hair. 2 in 1 value.

My hair has gotten a lot more split ended living in San Diego. It is so dry here and the ocean salt and wind don't help it along. But I do deep condition it in the shower and then put in leave in conditioner too and it seems ok.

The most embarrassing thing for me is to get food in my hair. Like if I am eating a sandwich on crusty bread and then suddenly there are crumbs in my hair. It makes me like a bit like a wild animal, which I guess my personality is sort of feral, anyway. :)

I think the curly hair on you is cuter than the straight, because a lot of people I know in the goth scene do the straight hair or doom cookie sort of bob, very few go with the curls. But it can look very wild and romantic and it also looks fun and spunky up in ponytails.
